Amazing campsite

What an amazing campsite run by a lovely family ? The facilities were the best I’ve ever come across and I will definitely be returning

Breakfast pancakes on the beach! Classic bacon, maple syrup and blueberries. ? Starting the year as we mean to go on, by cooking outside. It takes a strong intent (and strong arms!) to cook on Barafundle, as the beach is only accessible on foot or by sea. $We wanted snow but we'll settle for this lunar halo above the camping field last night, caused by the cold weather. Evidently this can happen when moonlight is refracted through ice crystals in the earth's atmosphere. The lily ponds are so high now, the waterfall has carved out new sand cliffs on the beach. And we had to do some serious off-piste on the way there (**swipe**) as the paths are flooded higher than we've ever known. And this was before Storm Bella fully blasted into town last night! It's been a daily challenge lately to find the break in the wind or rain to walk the dog in that elusive "best part" of the day. Exploring the submerged forest at Amroth at low tide. So cool seeing whole tree trunks exposed. AND... I saw an otter in the stream! Very exciting! It's rained a bit at Fresh East! If you're familiar with this beach and its meandering little stream in summer, it's barely recognisable when it's in flood and can take all sorts of different courses over one winter. #stackpolecamp #freshwatereast #ragingtorrent #thepowerofnature

Stan's Christmas wish is that 2021 will be the year we finally get our outdoor kitchen up and running on the campsite. He is planning experimental Christmas Day barbecued turkey (whatever the weather) so here he is testing out the cider brine. Aaaaarrrrgghh! A monster is about to devour the headland at Fresh East! We saw the beach in a whole new light today. It's well worth exploring the far east end at low tide, it's full of hidden scrambles, rock pools and teeny coves. #stackpolecamp #freshwatereast #winterwalks #visitpembrokeshire #pembscoast

Half blue sky and half cloud...well that just about sums up our fluctuating feelings today. Having planned to reopen tomorrow after our break that followed the Welsh lockdown, we have now taken the decision to remain closed until after Christmas. We don't yet know whether Wales will reopen its borders - at the moment you cannot travel into or out of the country, and because we are also limited on pitch availability due to ground conditions it is just not viable for us to reopen. With coronavirus infection rates rising even here now too, it feels the right thing to do. We hope to be able to honour our existing bookings between Christmas and New Year, but this will depend on Covid-19 guidelines. Please check the Covid-19 page on our website (link in bio). The diversity of rocks in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (its 'geodoversity') is the main reason why this coastline won its protected 'National Park' status back in 1952.
